Good location. Nice decor. Friendly staff.
No hotel car park, used pay & display nearby. Very limited evening menu and food arrived cold. Room had a number of maintenance issues.

A lovely hotel with plenty of character and a great location right by Chester station. The room was comfortable and well kept, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. Overall, a convenient and pleasant place to stay when visiting Chester.

We book on Booking.com and was quoted a price with a dog
But when we went to book in we had to pay another £50 per night because we had a small dog with us
Really not good once you had already been quoted a price
This made our total around 70% more than our original quote

Cold water in shower not working

For a beautiful hotel though cleaning would be top priority.

Wonderful
The public areas, the food and the staff
The last time I stayed I was in a much bigger more luxurious room I thought this was what I was booking but obviously room types are confusing. The bed was a queen at best and bathroom needs deep clean particularly around the shower. Someone left a pair of worn jammies in the room they were kicked into a corner cleaner must’ve missed them. Also breakfast used to be table service with a great menu now it’s self serve fry typical of a lower star rating. Breakfast was still decent but I was looking forward to eggs Benedict that I had on a previous stay.
Staff were excellent though.

Wonderful
We paid £16 each for Breakfast, a little overpriced and not very hot. The hotel is over the road from the train station. The superior double was great. Lovely hotel. We ate in the restaurant, food good, staff great.
Hotter breakfast would have been better, and for a bit less. The eggs were free range, the sausages could have been better. Although nice, they definitely weren’t butchers sausages.

Good
Not being able to book in till 4pm,would have preferred a 1-2 pm check in. Staff are happy to take luggage early which is helpful.
All the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful.
I feel a 4 star hotel should have some table service at breakfast instead of all self service.
Good selection of food available for breakfast.
Room was clean and tidy and well kempt.
Really liked the main stair case - it could have been so much better with carefully positioned plants to soften the environment.
Very large bed, It was during a cold spell when we visited, however the very thin duvet was not suffice and there was no additional blankets available, had to turn the room heat very high to stay warm.
Dining room was nicely decorated, but as with stair case could be much better with plants/flowers to soften the room.
£15 per day for parking somewhat steep, should be concession for hotel guests.
Some exterior decorating would benefit the hotel

The location to the train station. Staff experienced and really caring and friendly.
Some parts of the hotel was scruffy. The bed was big, but lumpy.
